France head coach Didier Deschamps has backed up his call to include Real Madrid star Ferland Mendy in his Euro 2024 squad.

Les Bleus are amongst the favourites to win the competition in Germany this summer with Real Madrid well represented in his panel.

Mendy is joined by midfield duo Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga in Deschamps’ plans ahead of the tournament.

Deschamps’ decision to name Mendy shows his faith in the Los Blancos left back after previously indicating a concern over his defensive ability.

However, on the back of a superb season in Madrid, Deschamps is confident over his readiness to start for France at the tournament.

“He has evolved his game. He overlaps less and has improved in his defensive efficiency, which was not his strong point, and he is able to project himself better”, as per quotes from Marca.

All three Real Madrid players will be given extra time off ahead of joining up with Deschamps’ squad at the start of June with the trio involved in the UEFA Champions League final on June 1.
