Report: LeBron James Won’t Leave Lakers To Play With Bronny
David Banks-USA TODAY Sports

According to NBA insider Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, LeBron James won’t leave the Los Angeles Lakers to play with his son, Bronny.

LeBron is expected to re-sign with the Lakers this summer. Los Angeles has the 17th and 55th pick in the first round of the 2024 NBA Draft.

While the Lakers are interested in drafting Bronny, if LeBron’s son gets drafted by another team, LeBron will not leave the Lakers to play for the team Bronny gets drafted by.

LeBron appeared in 71 games for the Lakers this season. The NBA icon averaged 25.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 8.3 assists while shooting 54.0% from the field, 41.0% from beyond the arc and 75.0% from the free-throw line.

LeBron joined the Lakers in the summer of 2018 after playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers from 2014-15 to 2017-18.

The Lakers missed the playoffs in 2019, won the title in 2020, lost in the first round of the 2021 playoffs, missed the playoffs in 2022, lost in the conference finals in 2023 and lost in the first round of the 2024 playoffs.

LeBron, who turns 40 in December, is expected to play up to two more NBA seasons. He became the leading scorer of all time last season, passing Lakers legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

The Lakers need a new head coach after firing Darvin Ham. They have been linked to JJ Redick, Sam Cassell, James Borrego, David Adelman, Micah Nori and Chris Quinn

Most people around the NBA expect the Lakers to hire Redick, who is podcast partners with LeBron. Los Angeles is seeking a coach who will command the locker room, hold players accountable, tirelessly gameplan and provide a level of structure.

LeBron is arguably the best player in NBA history. The King has career averages of 27.1 points, 7.5 rebounds and 7.4 assists with the Cavaliers, Miami Heat and Lakers.

LeBron is a four-time MVP, a four-time Finals MVP and a four-time champion. He’s the only player in NBA history to rank top-five all-time in points and assists, the only player to win three Finals MVPs with three different teams, the only player with 30,000 points, 10,000 rebounds and 10,000 assists and the only player to score 40,000 points.
